The OPTOPLUS eyecare clinic in Alma recently obtained carbon neutral certification, making a strong commitment to the planet. This success is the result of a fruitful partnership with LCL Environnement, a company specializing in the field. Together, they formed a GREEN committee that worked tirelessly for a year to achieve this goal.
Guided by an expert from LCL Environnement, this committee has undertaken a sustainable development policy covering environmental, social and financial aspects. From an environmental perspective, the clinic carried out an in-depth analysis of all its sources of waste, staff travel, energy consumption, business travel, heating and air conditioning systems as well as mail transport. These data were used to accurately assess greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
To offset these emissions, a tree-planting project in northern Quebec was launched in collaboration with Carone Boréal, leading to the award of carbon neutral certification. To maintain this certification, regular reassessments of GHG emissions and additional offsetting through tree planting will be required.
In addition, various initiatives are planned to mobilize the team at the OPTOPLUS eyecare clinic in Alma, such as awareness campaigns with their suppliers, improvements in waste management, internal challenges, employee training and long-term habit changes.
The OPTOPLUS eyecare clinic in Alma aspires to become a catalyst for change by encouraging other businesses to become actively involved in environmental responsibility and to adopt sustainable practices. In doing so, the clinic continues to offer quality care while protecting the planet.
Together, let’s take a step towards a greener, more sustainable future while looking after your visual health.
